2007 Rugby Awards

 

The Canterbury Rugby Union in association with The Canterbury Rugby Supporters’ Club hosted a gala dinner at the Christchurch Convention Centre on Saturday, 8 December 2007 where the annual players’ awards were presented.

Three players received dual recognition. The first was Stephen Brett.  The 22 year old first-five-eighths had an outstanding year in his first full Air New Zealand Cup campaign and was named as the Canterbury Rugby Supporters’ Club Player of the Year. He was also the recipient of the Tui Trophy for the Most Improved Crusader. The Rebel Sport Trophy for Crusaders Player of the Year was one of two collected by No 8 Mose Tuiali’i, who played his 50th match for the Crusaders during the semi-final at Pretoria.  He also took out the much coveted Canterbury Player’s Player of the Year award for the second consecutive season.  Hamish Gard also picked up two awards, being acknowledged with the Pat Vincent Award for Outstanding Off Field achievement, as well as the First Year Air New Zealand Cup squad player achievement award.
